Just watched the latest Assamese film MOR SES GAAN (my last song) and returned with a great deal of satisfaction.
Bijoy Duwara, a famous lyricist from the eighties, made a comeback as a
producer and dialogue writer. A strong sense of natural, good, dramatic
dialogue is blended with unpolluted emotion, smart wit, and a touch of humour.
The visuals are complemented by music. I am impressed by the creative and
respectful presentation of Jyotiprasad's songs.
Integrated cinematography and editing created the desired look and
impact. Often, the camera behaves like the
protagonist's eyes and this results in an organic and natural image that
reflects the soul of the story.
Acting - Arun Nath, Mridula Baruah, Kamal Lochan, Bibhuti Bhushan and Achinta - all are seasoned actors and the director gave them ample scope to flourish with their
natural talent and the director's imagination. It is Arghadeep's innocent look
that makes his acting so captivating. In spite of the low-key nature of his
character, he is the film's lead actor. Srijani Bhaswa Mahanta is in the
surprise pack. It was a role she lived in. For Assamese youth, she will be the
next heartthrob.
As well as Prabal Baruah, who wrote the story and directed the film. He
released something from his heart with profound respect for the land, people,
and the art he believed in.
Outside Anuradha : Namrata Datta, Bijoy Duwara, his better-half Bhanti Duwara and Prabal Baruah
Inside Anuradha : Sibanu Bora, Namrata Datta, Utpal Datta, Bibhuti Bhushan Hazarika, Pradip Puzari (in red) standing.
